MTV Video Music Awards

What can I say, the Video Music Awards (VMAs) aired yesterday on MTV.  I watched it, for the most part because there was some hype surrounding it.  Maybe I’m getting to old but the VMAs just was not that exciting; okay correction, Taylor Swift receiving an award did get my attention not because of her speech but because Kanye West decided to get up on stage and join her.  In case you missed it (or missed the news, the VMA re-airings, Twitter feeds, etc) Kanye interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech to say that Beyonce’s video is the best video of all time.

From what I understand about Kanye’s style is that he typically likes to find ways to bring attention to himself and last night was no exception.  This garnered a lot of reaction on Twitter during the event and after.  Beyonce made it right, in the end by allowing Taylor to come out on stage and give the acceptance speech.  Kanye tried to make it right by issuing an apology on his blog site.  If you go to his blog site to read it you won’t find it there because according to TMZ the apology is no longer posted.  Was the apology sincere or a public relations stunt?  Who knows.  All I know is that while Kanye may have been trying to push his agenda he may have actually done Taylor Swift a favor by bringing more attention to her and her music career.
