Another sad day as I learned that DJ AM died today.

From Fox NewsCelebrity disc jockey Adam Goldstein, known as DJ AM, was found dead in his New York City apartment at around 5:20 p.m. Friday.    Drug paraphernalia was found at the scene, TMZ reported.

Career

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvaniato a Jewish family, Goldstein was a member of the rock band Crazy Town, known for their hit “Butterfly“. He has also scratched on albums for Papa Roach, Madonna, Will Smith, and Shifty and played concerts with Jay-Z. He has played private events for celebrities like Jim Carrey, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Stiller, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, and Kate Hudson.  He had had a one-year contract with Las Vegas’ Pure Nightclub inside Caesar’s Palace to play at the venue every Friday and opening a nightclub at Caesars Atlantic City called Dusk.  He was also a co-owner of the popular club LAX.  In 2009, DJ AM became Rain Nightclub’s regular Friday night DJ.

Plane Crash

On September 19, 2008, after having performed at a college event with frequent collaborator Travis Barker, Goldstein was seriously injured when a Learjet he was traveling in crashed on takeoff in Columbia, South Carolina. The crash killed both crew members and two other passengers, and critically injured Goldstein and Barker

Celebrities on Twitter

Twitter was flooded with the news of Goldstein’s death.

Travis Barker’s ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, took to her Twitter page: “My deepest condolences for DJ AM, you were a great artist and will be severely missed. My thoughts and Prayers to his family and friends.” Katy Perry, who performed with AM and Barker at the VMAs last year when the duo acted as the night’s house band, tweeted, “Rest in peace friend.”

“I can’t believe this,” Lindsay Lohanwrote on her Twitter page. “I’m in shock. why? why? r.i.p. adam.” Perez Hilton recalled talking to DJ AM about his planned substance-abuse intervention show on MTV, “Gone Too Far,” noting that he was “so excited” for it. “I’m tempted to feel angry at the world/God right now, but I can’t. I won’t. I choose to believe Adam is free of his demons now and at peace.”
